Medicare Prescription Payment Plan
Simplify How You Pay for Medications.
What is the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan?
If you are struggling to manage your prescription copays, the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, also called MPPP or M3P, may be right for you. It’s a new government program that allows you to pay a capped monthly payment for your prescription copays, so you don’t have to worry about paying everything all at once at the pharmacy.
This program may help you manage your costs, but it won’t change how much you pay for your prescriptions. It won’t lower your drug costs, but you also won’t be charged any interest.
Who’s eligible?
As part of the Inflation Reduction Act, this program will be available in 2026 for Medicare Advantage members with prescription drug coverage, as well as members with Part D prescription drug plans.
While anyone can sign up, this program works best for people with high-cost prescriptions throughout the year.
If you’re low income and have certain resource limits, the government’s low-income subsidy program called Extra Help might be a better fit for you. Unlike this payment plan, Extra Help can save you a significant amount of money on prescriptions.
How it works
If you have this payment plan, you no longer pay anything at the pharmacy. When you get a prescription filled, we’ll automatically let the pharmacy know you’re participating in this payment option. You’ll then receive a monthly bill from WyoBlue.
The total of your monthly bill can vary. It’s based on what you would have paid for any prescriptions you get, plus your previous month’s balance, divided by the number of months left in the year.
Even though you won’t pay for your drugs at the pharmacy, you’re still responsible for the costs. If you want to know what your drug will cost before you take it home, ask your pharmacist.
Your total yearly cost can never exceed the 2026 Part D out-of-pocket maximum, which is $2,100.
You can learn more about this program by reading the CMS Fact Sheet.
